REKS Summer Series Webinars: Introduction to Decentralized Clinical Trials

The GHUCCTS Regulatory, Ethics, Knowledge & Support (REKS) is hosting a summer webinar series on "Pathways to Decentralized (Virtual) Clinical Trials". The first session will feature Dr. Nichelle Cobb who will discuss "Introduction to Decentralized Clinical Trials".

Headshot of Dr. Nichelle CobbNichelle Cobb, PhD, is the Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). Prior to that she served as the Human Subjects Protection Officer for the Institute for Clinical & Translational Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was the Director of the Health Sciences Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) for 16 years. Nichelle has been involved in single IRB work for more than a decade and currently serves as a Senior Advisor for SMART IRB, a federally funded project that supports the implementation of single IRB. In addition, Nichelle serves as a member of the SMART IRB Harmonization Steering Committee and has co-led working groups to harmonize IRB and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) practices, such as reportable events, ancillary reviews, and continuing review. In addition to her work with single IRB, Nichelle serves as an advisor to a federally supported collaboration between Sage Bionetworks, Emory University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison to develop a unique and robust approach to an electronic consent form and process for a non-therapeutic, longitudinal study involving the collection of biospecimens to support research on Alzheimer’s Disease.

The GHUCCTS Regulatory, Ethics, Knowledge & Support (REKS) is hosting a summer webinar series on "Pathways to Decentralized (Virtual) Clinical Trials". The second session will feature Dr. Petros Okubagzi who will discuss " Options for In-Home Clinical Trial Visits ".

The Summer Intensive Workshop will be held from July 12 through July 16, 2021 online from 9 AM to 5 PM each day. This is a one-week (40-hour) introductory-level workshop with a focus on biostatistics and design of clinical trials. The registration fee is $1,000, with a discounted rate available for those participating in Residency & Fellowship Programs.
