Research Grand Rounds: "Examining the Influence of Host and Viral Genetics on COVID-19 Disease Severity in Local and National Datasets"

Date Fri, Jun 7
Time 12: 00 PM - 1: 00 PM
Location Virtual

Speaker: Grace Kim, National TL1 Visiting Scientist

Following our first GHUCCTS grand rounds by a visiting KL2 Scholar in May, we are pleased to present the first talk by a TL1 scholar in the national CTSA William Schnaper Visiting Scientist Program. Trained in genomics, genetics, and bioinformatics, Grace Kim’s recent research has focused on using multi-omic and bioinformatic approaches to elucidate T cell epitope diversity in response to COVID-19 viral variants and then dissect these complex interactions to explain differences in disease course and severity.  The application of these translational approaches from mechanism through population health is emblematic of the translational team science across our national CTSA consortium.

This session will cover “Data Acquisition, Management, Sharing and Ownership” with Sara Stienecker, MS, MBA Medstar Health Research Institute.
Research Grand Rounds are sponsored by the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) and its partner institutions (Georgetown and Howard Universities, MedStar Health Research Institute, the Washington DC VAMC, and Oak Ridge National Lab) to bring together our diverse clinical and research communities to share research that spans disciplines and stages of translation to improve individual and community health.
