The Memory Improvement through Nicotine Dosing (MIND) study team leveraged the GHUCCTS Trial Innovation Network (TIN) to identify collaborators for the trial through an EHR-based cohort assessment. The clinical trial was placed at the Georgetown University Memory Disorders Program. Investigators also utilized the TIN to conduct community engagement studios that allow for meaningful involvement of diverse groups of stakeholders in the planning and implementation of research.
The MIND study is "the largest and longest of its kind, enrolling up to 300 people in 23 states to see if a nicotine patch, developed to help smokers kick the habit, can also help sharpen memory and attention". NBC4 Washington recently featured the study.
